No external intervention in Lebanon riot

Beirut, Lebanon, Jun. 20 (UPI) --
An official report issued Sunday said there was no external intervention or instigation in last month's riot in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
The report focused on the clashes between demonstrators protesting fuel price hikes and the army. Several people were killed during the riot.
The report, to be discussed by the Lebanese cabinet, contradicted accusations by the head of the Shiite Hezbollah guerrilla group, Hassan Nasrallah, that people linked with the U.S. Embassy in Beirut were involved in the demonstration.
Dozens of protesters were arrested, and 44 remain in detention, while a military court has sentenced a number of people to one month in prison for starting the riot.
The report said questioning of the 44 detainees did not show a connection with any specific party.
